If you got theatre tokens for Christmas, or it’s your New Year’s Resolution to see more live shows… there’s no better time! Leeds Grand Theatre is bringing us a range of incredible shows with star casts!
You have until Saturday 7th January to see Northern Ballet’s Beauty & The Beast! The fabulous score is played live by Northern Ballet Sinfonia, so don’t miss it.
Continuing the culture is Opera North, presenting not one… not two… but THREE options for theatre-goers from 21st January to Saturday 5th February. The Snow Maiden, Hansel & Gretel and Cinderella are all perfect winter treats.
If you’ve yet to catch The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, then now’s your chance as Mark Haddon’s best-selling novel is transformed into a captivating play. I’ve seen the tour before, and it really is a great show and perfect for fans of the book. However, even if you haven’t seen the book the play is still a masterclass of physical theatre, great acting and a stunning set.
Northern Ballet comes back to Leeds Grand from 11th-18th March to present Casanova, a ballet full of 18th century decadence.
If you saw Chicago last year, you’ll recognise the immense talents of John Partridge. Well… he’s back! La Cage Aux Follies visits Leeds from 21st-25th March, so get ready to sing along to tunes such as I Am What I Am!
Sean Lock brings his hit show Keep It Light to Leeds on 26th and 27th March. His show’s followed by Lord of the Dance: Dangerous Games, leaping on stage from 28th March to 2nd April.
Willy Russell’s heart-warming one-woman play, Shirley Valentine, is next up. Running from 3rd-8th April, don’t miss your chance to see Jodie Prenger star as the Liverpool housewife.
On 9th April, showbiz legend Count Arthur Strong brings his show The Sound of Mucus to the stage. Fresh from Panto-land down in London, Count Arthur Strong is definitely a household name to look out for.
Direct from the West End, Thriller Live runs from 11th-15th April. Can you name more than five Michael Jackson songs? This show’s definitely for you. It’s a show full of non-stop Michael hits!
Classic show Thoroughly Modern Millie comes to Leeds on 17th-22nd April. Starring Strictly‘s Joanne Clifton, this Jazzy show is perfect for dance fans, musical fans and everyone in-between.
If you prefer a more serious style of theatre, why not come along to Ruth Rendell’s A Judgement In Stone from 24th-29th April? A terrible tale of murder in cold blood will have you on the edge of your seat…
If you’re looking forward to May Day already, treat yourself to a blast from the past. On 1st May Solid Silver 60s features The Merseybeats, Dave Berry, Wayne Fontana, Vanity Fair and Chris Montez!
There’s shows for the kids, too, with David Walliam’s Gangsta Granny bursting on to the stage. Granny has a secret, and you’ll have to go along to Leeds Grand to find out more…
Strictly Come Dancing stars shimmy on stage from 8th-13th May with Keep Dancing! See the dazzling costumes in all-sparkling technicolour!
Jon Richardson brings his new tour to Leeds on Sunday 14th May – so keep an eye out for the TV star’s show!
A story about the wife of former Argentine dictator Juan Peron might not sound brilliant, but trust us… it is! Evita‘s journey is brought to live on stage from 15th-20th May.
Taking things to a more light-hearted level, I simply cannot wait for The Plays That Goes Wrong. The smash hit comedy is multi-award-winning. Expect plenty of laughs from 22nd-27th May.
Mama Mia! is arriving from 20th May – 8th July, followed by rock ‘n’ rolling Dreamboats and Petticoats from 10th-15th July. If that wasn’t enough top hits for you, then how about Dirty Dancing on 24th-29th July?
We weren’t expecting a National Theatre production of Jane Eyre to visit Leeds Grand, but the Charlotte Brontë classic is doing just that on 31st July-5th August.
Bringing more summer sparkle to Leeds is The Wedding Singer (22nd-26th August). Starring Ray Quinn, Ruth Madoc and Roxanne Pallett, this fun show will remind you of Adam Sandler’s hit film!
Crazy for You is starring yet another Strictly sensation. This time, it’s Tom Chambers starring in the feel-good musical that’s full of memorable tunes such as I Got Rhythm.

Nativity! The Musical sparkles and shines on 20th December – 6th January! The festive film starred Martin Freeman and contains some seriously awesome Christmassy tunes. This one’s not to be missed!
