Here at TSOTA we have been following various projects around Leeds on the lead up to Le Grand Depart on July 5th.  Alongside West Yorkshire Playhouse, Otley Courthouse and Leeds Art Gallery, amongst many others, The Craft Centre & Design Gallery is yet another organisation embracing Le Tour Yorkshire with brand new Le Tour-inspired exhibitions.

Recently featured on the BBC’s Countryfile (22nd June) was one of The Craft Centre’s featured makers, Jane O’Neill. Jane has become a firm favourite of visitors to Leeds with her collection of works inspired by Le Tour Yorkshire. Her glass coasters, prints, keyrings, greeting cards and cufflinks showcase the very best of the route of Le Tour Yorkshire with Leeds, Harrogate, Ilkley and Otley being depicted and lots more besides.

For her special feature on BBC’s Countryfile, Jane was filmed cycling up Cragg Vale (one of the scenes depicted in her collection). Presenter John Craven also helped Jane sand some of her glass coasters and explored her studio where all of the hard work takes place.

Jane displays her work at The Craft Centre & Design Gallery alongside other makers who have also been inspired by Le Tour Yorkshire; tea towels, prints and greeting cards created by Jessica Hogarth, limited edition prints created by Denise Burden, Mike Smith, Sarah Harris, Janis Goodman and Danny Cameron and embroidered textile pieces by Janet Browne.  These artists have all captured the spirit of the World’s greatest cycle race coming to Yorkshire on Saturday 5th & Sunday 6th July.
