Here at TSOTA, we continue to follow the successes of one of the UK’s largest ballet companies so close to home, Northern Ballet. Ahead of our interview with dancer Matthew Broadbent, we hope to bring to your attention to the upcoming Fundraising Gala held by the Academy of Northern Ballet, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of its CAT programme: a programme offering professional training to talented young dancers in the UK.

The Academy of Northern Ballet is the official school of Northern Ballet and is the only recognised Centre for Advanced Training (CAT) specialising in Classical Ballet in the UK. Northern Ballet’s CAT professional programme runs in collaboration with Northern School of Contemporary Dance, which offers contemporary dance CAT training.

The Academy of Northern Ballet is about to celebrate its 10th anniversary of its CAT Programme with a summer garden themed fundraising Gala on June 29th.

The Gala, organised by Northern Ballet’s Leading Soloists Hannah Bateman, will include exclusive performances by the Academy’s CAT students, past and present. Held at Northern Ballet’s beautiful building at Quarry Hill, the event will commence with locally sourced afternoon tea and a drinks reception, where guests can meet and mingle with Academy staff and students.

Tickets are priced at £50 per person (or £75 a pair) and include both the drinks reception and Gala performance. All proceeds will go towards supporting the dancing stars of the future.
