December 26, 2015
The Arts Development team at Leeds City Council supports the heritage & cultural activity in Leeds Town Hall including talks, tours and exhibitions. They have plenty of exciting events coming up in 2016, so why not go along?
The Heritage Tour starts in January, on the last Saturday and last Monday of the month. The tour will take in the Victoria Hall, Court Room, Victorian Cells and the clock tower, ending with a trip outside the clock tower face to see the views of the city.
Also, photography exhibition My Leeds in Focus comes to the Town Hall in January. The exhibition is an exciting photography exhibition showcasing the images and stories of the amazing buildings, places, people and activities that define Leeds as a city. The exhibition showcases a collection of short listed entries from the Leeds Community Foundation My Leeds in Focus photography competition.
Talks coming up in January include a public lecture exploring the life of Victorian criminal William Sheen and the influence his infamy may have had on the young Charles Dickens (Leeds Town Hall, Wednesday 13th January at 12.30pm) and a talk from Malcolm Chase, Professor of Social History, offering an insight into the life of Hunslet-born Alfred Mattison (Leeds Central Library, Thursday 14th January 1pm).
Here’s to a fantastic 2016!
