Great cast announced for When We Are Married
July 15, 2016
When We Are Married, the much-loved J.B. Priestley play, will be touring the country thanks to the joint forces of Northern Broadsides and York Theatre Royal.
Directed by and featuring Northern Broadsides artistic director Barrie Rutter, the production will open at York Theatre Royal from the 9-24 September and then go on a national tour until 10 December 2016.
When We Are Married tells the tale of the Parkers and the Soppitts, who are highly respected pillars of their community… but not for much longer. Married on the same day in the same chapel, they gather to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary. But the celebrations are short lived when they discover the vicar wasn’t licensed and they are actually not married! In fact, they have been living in sin for 25 years.
The production’s exciting cast will feature Sue Devaney (you might know her as Jane in Victoria Wood’s Dinnerladies or Debbie Webster in Coronation Street), Steve Huison (who doesn’t remember Lomper in The Full Monty and lovable Eddie Windass in Coronation Street). The cast also includes Dinnerladies’ Adrian Hood and Coronation Street’s Kate Anthony, plus a host of other incredibly talented actors and actresses. It really is a brilliant cast, and this show isn’t to be missed!
The backstage crew is also a very talented team, as production will be designed by Jessica Worrall with lighting by Tim Skelly.
The play opens at York Theatre Royal from the 9-24 September, before touring.
