Bringing feathers, flair and flamboyance to the Leeds Grand this March, Bill Kenwright presents La Cage Aux Folles. In its first ever UK tour, this production promises to transform the much-loved musical into a star-studded spectacular.
Set amongst the colourful nightlife of St Tropez, the lead couple, Georges and Albin, are living the drag dream. But beneath the sequinned surface, family life spells trouble. When Georges’ son, Jean-Michel, announces his engagement to the daughter of a notoriously right-wing politician, worlds collide. La Cage is where camp meets conservative, and we enjoy the potential for drama and hilarity therein.
John Partridge (Chicago, Eastenders) will play the iconic lead role of ‘Albin’, or Zaza, as he is known by night, on stage at ‘La Cage aux Folles’ nightclub. His partner, ‘George’, will be played by Broadway favourite Adrian Zmed (T.J.Hooker, Grease 2) in his first UK stage appearance.
They will be joined by Marti Webb (Tell Me On A Sunday, Blood Brother, Evita) as ‘Jacqueline’ and together they will showcase the show-stopping musical score. Expect such favourites such as The Best of Times, Song on the Sand and I Am What I Am.
Promising to combine vibrant cabaret and comedy with touching domestic drama, La Cage Aux Folles is ultimately a tale of unconditional love and acceptance (with feather boas to soften the blow!)
La Cage Aux Folles will play at Leeds Grand from 21st-25th March. For tickets and additional information, visit www.leedsgrandtheatre.com.
