A new listening bar space for reading and meeting is coming to Leeds this November. Holding Patterns, a relaxed hi-fi music bar & cafe, opened its doors in November, right in the city centre.

Inspired by the rise of the Japanese-style listening bar, Holding Patterns builds on the owners’ success in creating community-centred spaces in Leeds – it is the joint venture of Jack, who is behind Hyde Park Book Club, Eiger Studios and the founder of TSOTA, along with Rob & Lynsey, who own the business above Holding Patterns, Renaissance Hair & Beauty.

The space is designed for visitors to relax and enjoy quality music in an intimate setting, becoming one of only a handful of specialist audiophile spots in the North of England. Events will be regularly programmed, with locally sourced DJs and guest selectors from around the country performing every Friday and Saturday night through a hi-fi sound system provided by Martin Audio known for their work with Fabric nightclub, Blues Kitchen and Manchester Arena. The venue consists of a 60-cap ground floor area, kitted out with relaxed seating for daytime working and evening catch-ups, as well as a 10-cap nook space with books for sale and more relaxed seating, perfect for reading & writing.

“We’re really excited to be bringing this space, with its listening element, and slow reading & writing environment to the city centre,” said owners Jack, Lynsey & Rob. “The last few years have been a difficult time for culture. There are lots of inspiring places in the city centre, and we’re looking forward to adding a small amount of space for hanging out, drinks and listening.”
