Northern Fiction Alliance Roadshow: Leeds Lit Fest 2020

I don’t know if we’ve told you this yet but the Northern Fiction Alliance sometimes go on tour, like a band but of independent publishers. We call it the Northern Fiction Alliance Roadshow, and it’s returning next month for the first time since 2018, this time to Leeds as part of Leeds Literature Festival.

On Sunday 8th March, leading independent publishers from across the north including Manchester’s Comma Press, Leeds’s Peepal Tree Press, Liverpool’s Dead Ink Books, Sheffield’s And Other Stories, Salford’s Saraband, Hebden Bridge’s Bluemoose Books, Newcastle’s Mayfly, Pontefract’s Route and Scarborough’s Valley Press, will be at Hyde Park Book Club showcasing their titles and authors, chatting about the work that they do and selling their books.

There will be author readings from:

– Luke Brown, author of ‘Theft’ (And Other Stories, 2020), described as “A raw, funny, surprisingly tender novel about belonging, class, and what makes a life a success” by Dolly Alderton.
– Adelle Hay, author of ‘Anne Brontë Reimagined’ (Saraband, 2020), as featured on BBC Woman’s Hour.
– Anna Chilvers, author of ‘East Coast Road’ (Bluemoose, 2020)
– Jude Brown, author of ‘His Dark Sun’ (Mayfly Press, 2020)

Founded in 2016, the Northern Fiction Alliance is a radical publishing collective devised to showcase the creativity, diversity and spirit of publishers in the North of England. Together we’re reshaping and redefining the UK’s literary landscape, commissioning bold new works with support from Arts Council England.

The roadshow enables the Alliance to build conversation with new audiences across the country, introducing you to the people behind the country’s most innovative new literary projects, finding out what you’re excited about and what else you’d like to see. We’d love to have you with us supporting small indies of the north, browsing our latest titles and asking us anything.
